At opening bell Nifty opened gap down around 15 points. Bears tightened the grip from thereon. At the morning session bulls unsucessfully traied to take Nifty above 5050 on 2 occasions. Nifty November futures has turned into a discount of 2.5 points from a premium of 0.35 points. At the end of the trading session Nifty lost around 65 points and closed at 4989 (-1.30%).
