Taking cues from the gobal markets, Nifty opened 50 points gap up at opening bell. It touched the day's high of 4947 in the opening trade itself. After that it was choppy session till around 1.30 pm in the noon. After doing all whipsawing it sell off accelerated and finally closed 16 points down at 4881 (-0.34%)

- FII's and DII's were net buyers in the equities worth Rs. 259 Cr and Rs. 182 Cr respectively
- Telecom sector followed by consumer sector led the loses in Nifty
