Yesterday Nifty opened at 5019, and in the first half of the trading day unsucessfully tried twice to beark 5030 mark. It traded in a narrow range of 4995 - 5020 till 2.30pm , then broke downwards. Finally nifty closed around 50 points(1%) down at 4969. Volatility was back in action after few days.
- GAIL(2.67%), Power Grid(2.31%), HDFC Bank(1.29%), Ranbaxy(1.23%) and Axis Bank(1.10%) were the top gainers among Nifty stocks.
- Suzlon(6.30%),Bharti Airtel(3.30%), Unitech(3.27%), RelCapital(3.14%) and Rcom(3.02%) were the top loosers.
- Pharma and Media were the better performing sectors in the broader market.
- FII's and DII's were net buyers in the cash market with equities worth Rs 1748 Cr, Rs 500 Cr respectively
